Cheers to A Lost Love

Still searching for my four leaf clover
Cannot dance, the song is over
Still such a lush
I loved you so much
Nothing ever lasts
So I lift the glass

Lima

The fingertips of heaven grasp her now
Body in pieces soul as one
You are not here anymore, but you are remembered
Eating crab with your hands on the beach
Smelling the sea air and walking the boardwalk
Holding my head while I threw up all the candy you bought me with your last dollars
Asking for money at Christmas time
Instead of gifts
Yelling at your drunk husband to leave us alone
Sitting on the stoop judging the loose ladies
I am missing you now
I will never forget you
But I cannot cry, because, you would laugh at me

Down and Out

He said "Can you spare a five?"
Without it I won't survive
I have been beaten down and broken by this life
My troubles cause me much strife
I have fought the bottle
Had no role models
Problems finding my way
Everything costs and I have nothing to pay
The streets are so cruel
Never went to school
Made my choices
Now I hear voices
On my own
Have no one to phone
My family said goodbye
I didn't really try
I am homeless
In distress
You are so blessed
Please "Can you spare a five?"
Without it I won't survive

Loquacious

Speak to me with your heart
and I will listen without borders
Tell me your deepest thoughts
Are you scared or lost?
I see the bigger picture
Painted on your canvass of tears
Washing away the scenery of laughter
You still smile
Because, today you are older than you ever were
and younger than you will ever be
Take a breath
Talk to me
I hear you
I feel you
I love you

You didn't want another poem about love did you?

Love,

He Sings a Tune

Give me a son that sings
With a voice like angel wings
Carry a tune
and howl at the moon
Play the guitar
It will carry him far
Dabble with the keys
Brings girls to their knees
Write like John
and have it all
Lead a cause
the lyrics make us pause
Maybe win an award
and then praise the lord
Stay away from the drugs,
gangsters and useless thugs
Blow kisses to his fans
Be an important  man
Have a beautiful muse
Be ready for his cues
Roam the country in a van
Becoming brothers in his band
Rub shoulders with the greats
While others recreate
Stay out of touch
While creating a fuss
Make music for the world
Make them dance, make them twirl
So, let it come soon
Pratice till noon
You are so cool
My boy with a tune

Dovetail

We are all connected
Heavenly directed
Feel the rhythm of the universe
Look into my eyes when we converse
We are in this together
No matter the weather
Don't forget your heart
Even when torn apart
Keep your soul intact
When under attack
Voice your concerns
So we can all learn
When encountering hate
Loneliness should not be our fate
We may die alone
But, we live life to be known
That everyone plays apart
In this life to make art
An emotional reality check
To grow with no regrets

My heart goes out to the families of the victims of the nightclub tragedy in Brazil.

You are in my heart forever.
So sad....bring those responsible to justice!

Love,

m.
